I was consumed by severe pain in my wrist and shoulder, in the midst of an important writing project. So I went to Mend. I consider myself lucky that Ian Abugayda was my therapist. Ian's intuitive approach to therapy is equal parts knowledge, skill and empathy. I experienced tremendous pain-relief in just the first session. Ian used his unusual therapeutic methods to determine the source of the pain (scar tissue), which none of the other therapists or doctors had realised over the past 17 years since my appendectomy. Over the next few sessions at Mend, my wrist improved considerably, and regained most of its flexibility and strength. The shoulder pain nearly vanished. I was fortunate to be in the able and gifted hands of Ian Abugayda. He is compassionate and gentle, and connects very well with people. A true healer, a magician! Mend was nothing like I had expected or experienced before. It was better in every single way. Very highly recommended.

I saw Jeannette, and she was amazing. She was able to immediately pinpoint ways in which I sit and stand which are causing discomfort. She works quietly and with great patience, without oil (she does the work through the blanket--which is very effective nonetheless) and it really helped get the kinks out. This isn't a place for a generic feel-good massage (though it does feel good!). The studio is called "Mend" because they customize your bodywork to help relieve chronic discomfort and pain. Highly recommended.

Awesome. Professional. Much relief. I've been getting massages for 25 years and Leith knows how to get to my knots and yank 'em out. I need deep tissue and I find Mend and Leith's work to be professional and top notch!

Throughout my career as a professional ballet dancer, I relied on the benefits of high quality bodywork to keep me on my toes. Now, in my 50s, I still spend my days in dance studios, teaching ballet and ballroom to adults, and serving as Ballet Master and Artistic Advisor to Menlowe Ballet. One of the luckiest things that ever happened to me was finding Adrienne and MEND. Adrienne’s knowledge and years of experience have enabled her to create an oasis of healing that inspires trust and generates results. Since beginning regular sessions with Adrienne over three years ago, I’ve become a new and improved person. Her work resolved my terrible hormonal and stress-related headaches and the chronic ache that I carried in my neck and shoulders. Without fail, she manages to “repair me” each time I come in with work-related injuries and strains. Adrienne’s generous spirit and spot-on intuition make her a powerful healer, and the team of bodyworkers she has assembled embody the qualities she values. Adrienne continues to train and challenge herself and she often surprises me by bringing new things to the table (pun intended!). The combination of Adrienne’s nurturing personality, exceptional skill, and the calming ambience at MEND, make my visits there feel like a mini vacation that I take twice a month. I’m very grateful. I have worked with both Jeannette and Adrienne. These ladies are off the chart in skill and heart. This is not relaxation massage. It's fix-the-problem massage. The rooms are visually appealing, which is always nice. Prior to seeing Jeannette, I was unable to work on the computer for longer than 4 hours at a time, or take a road trip. My neck had been previously injured in a bike wreck. I am now able to work on the computer unhindered, and have had a couple road trips with no issues. These ladies get the job done with jokes, heart, and mad skills.

Adrienne is my muscular therapist. She is way beyond a masseuse. She is more like a curative muscle practitioner. Her diagnostic capabilities are excellent. Her findings and resulting therapy have been more accurate and effective than orthopedic doctors and physical therapists that I have seen. I last saw her because my legs would unexpectantly give out. This was frightening and I thought I might have muscular sclerosis. After examing me, testing muscle strength and weakness, questioning me and listening very closely to my responses, Adrienne determined that my psoas muscles had stopped working. I had never heard of psoas muscles. She treated me and gave me home exercises. Problem solved. This is just ONE successful story. I have gone to Adrienne for problems with my shoulder and butt as well. I HIGHLY recommend her.

I first went to Mend to seek relief from several pain issues I had been experiencing the last few years. First it was my neck and back that was causing me a lot of pain due likely to my arthriitis condition. Later it was one knee and an elbow as the arthritis continued to take its toll. Whenever these issues came up, I made an appointment with Mend and received amazing results relieving the pain immediately and being provided with exercises and/or stretching suggestions to help alleviate any recurring issues. I have had these treatments from several of Mend's practioners (Adrienne, Ian, Michael, and Kristen) and would without hesitation recommend all of them. Adrienne has found a highly skilled, trained, and committed group that are very intent in providing exceptional thereapy. I had tried physical therapy from several of my medical provider's PT departments around the Bay Area without any positive results. Each of those visits were a waste of time and money. If you are in pain or discomfort, Mend is the place to seek help.

Ian has an unusual approach to addressing pain and weakness, but it is very effective. He was able to address a painful neck and shoulder problem that other accomplished body workers were not. I was quite impressed.

I just went to Mend yesterday for the first time. I saw Kristen and was instantly comfortable with her, she was extremely approachable and easy to speak with. The massage focused well on the areas I requested while still being a full body massage, which was great and exactly what I was looking for. The pressure was perfect and Kristen adjusted on the fly when she sensed my reactions. I wanted to wait until today to review because I've had so many fluffy massages that feel really good for one day, but don't really work out the deep tension. This was not that massage. I iced my neck for 10 minutes yesterday per Kristen's instructions because she warned I may be sore from how deep the massage was. I don't feel sore, just relaxed and relieved to finally have a good place to get a massage nearby! I highly recommend Mend if you're looking for real help and relief.

I have received bodywork from both Leigh and Jeanette, and they were each terrific and unique. Leigh has an excellent way of making her clients feel comfortable. I was nervous at first but after we got started I could feel how calm she was which made me feel way more comfortable. Jeanette asked me right away what I wanted, how I wanted it, and then she delivered! She worked on my abdomen which I hadn't realized hurt at all, but once she did the pain in my hips disappeared. I loved the information about the muscles I received during my massage, and would definitely return to either one of these practitioners.
