The Mineshaft Restaurant

Originally called “The Commodore”, this converted cocktail lounge was purchased in 1975 by the brothers Tom & Will, along with their parents Dan & Dorothy Masters. In 1982, the tavern became a partnership between the brothers, then remodeled to look very much like an old mine shaft, where it borrowed its present name. Shortly thereafter, the first expansion took place and a kitchen was added, serving Mexican & other popular food choices. Tom became sole owner and set out to make the ultimate Fish Fry. Over the years, we expanded 7 more times & now exceed 2000 dinners every Friday. The Mineshaft seats over 500 people and serves over 10,000 guests weekly, which brings the total served to over half a million people annually. We will continue to grow and give our customers large portions of quality “Home-Made” food at reasonable prices. We thank the many people who have supported us, without you, we would never have made it.

Fantastic place! The fish is amazing! Love the new menu options for the fish fry and the mix and match! Their pizza and mozzarella sticks are also delicious. We enjoy playing games in the game room after dinner

Well known as the largest bar in Wisconsin, it has great pizza and a great fish fry, as well as a huge party area and a full arcade. More then just your typical bar for sure.

We love Pizza Monday: large 3 topping pizza and a large pitcher of beer, soda, or milk all for $14.99. The restaurant area is expansive and can accommodate 2 -30. Friendly service in the heart of Hartland.

Tuesday night, best night to go with less of a crowd. Pizza and appetizers are great, seated within 15 minutes, and order up within another 15. Waitress was Sandie, and she was outstanding! Kept waters and coffees filled, and we were done and out in less than an hour.

The wait was long so we went upstairs to play games. Kids had a blast. Busy but the burgers were great!!! Good prices too.

Awesome prices on all you can eat Wednesday & Friday Fish Fry. My husband loves the fried pollock, and I love the poorman's lobster. They also have great prices on drinks!!! We love this place and would visit a lot more if we lived closer.

This is a good place to eat. We always get our CUSA passes here which is awesome! The overall restaurant is really cool. I would recommend this place to other people, and have before. That's just from my experiences, everyone has different experiences though :)

Wow - after reading some of these reviews, I was hesitant to drive the 45 mins from Waukesha to the Mineshaft, but am I glad we did! I made reservations for 3 for 7p on Wednesday 9/29. We showed up right at 7p, were seated immediately (despite a full waiting area), and it got better from there. Our server Tanner showed up within 4 minutes to get our drink order. We knew we were all getting the $4.99 fish fry, so we ordered the drinks, an order of mozzerella sticks and the fish right away. The mozzerella sticks were served within 8-10 minutes, and our first plates of fish hit the table at 7:21. The fish and french fries were almost too hot to eat, and were crispy and delicious. I even ate most of my cole slaw, which is a rarity for me. Tanner checked on us often, refilled our drinks often, and our subsequent plates of fish were served quickly and were just as hot as the first. No need to ask for more tartar sauce either, as each plate had an extra slice of lemon and cup of tartar sauce. We were stuffed "to the gills" after three plates of about 5 pieces each, finished our drinks and were off to the game room by 8p. No rushing involved, just good, efficient service. Our tab totaled $30 for the three of us ($5.99 for the mozz sticks and $2.50 for bottomless sodas), and after a well-deserved $7 tip, that was one of the best sit-down meals I've had for the price. Service = A Food Quality = A Atmosphere = A Game Room = B (just not a big fan myself, but the kids loved it)

I've been to the Mineshaft many times, for their fish fry as well as dinners with friends and have yet to have a bad experience. The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable and the service is friendly and fast. The only drawback is that it is so popular, you have to come early or you'll have to wait awhile to be seated.
